There have been some changes to the wireless network. All changes affect both campuses.  Currently the wireless is configured with a public and private network.  The private network is CSDPrivate and all school owned devices will automatically associate with it. This network has a special password that only a few individuals in the district know.  It will not be given out. The CSDPrivate network is encrypted using WPA2 encryption.  Once your device is associated with this network, your device will be able to access other devices on the school network such as printers and servers.  If you are unable to print be sure to check your wireless connection and ensure your device is associated with the CSDPrivate network.  You can access all the school sanctioned sites without authenticating but to get to other web sites you are required to use your network account.  Some systems are configured to bypass the Sonicwall logon requirement, for example all the iPads and iPods.  Please be aware that when students are using these devices there is no tracking of their Internet usage.

The other network CSDPublic is for guest devices and student owned devices.  This network is an open network meaning that there is no password or encryption and your device will automatically connect to it. When you are using the CSDPublic network you can access the Internet only you cannot print.  You can access all the school sanctioned sites without authenticating but to get to other web sites you are required to use your network account.  

Please keep in mind that all Internet access whether on the CSDPrivate or CSDPublic networks goes through the web filter.

Note: This will only work while you are on the school network and on a school owned computer that is associated with the CSDPrivate wireless network or wired with a LAN connection.

This utility will allow you to change your network password that you need in order to log on to the Internet.  You must know your current password in order to use this utility.  If you have forgotten your network password you will need to see one of the network authorized administrators to have them reset your password for you.

An iGoogle Portal Page is a great way to present all of your important information in a single place.  The iGoogle Portal is very simple to setup and can be used to show your email messages, your Google documents, your calendar, the school's facilities calendar, school activities schedule, news, sports and weather and many other elements of information important to you.

It does not take long to set up an iGoogle Portal Page but I can assist you in getting started quickly.  Just right click this link and choose Save Link as...  to download a settings file to your computer desktop or downloads folder.

Then, open your web browser and go to  In the center of the page find the See Your Page button and click it, then In the upper right corner of the portal page, click the sign in link and enter your Google account and password (email address and password).   Once logged in, click the small gear next to your account name and in the menu select iGoogle Settings. 
On the iGoogle Portal Settings page, scroll to the bottom of the page and find the Export / Import section.  Click on the Choose File button or Browse button and browse to the settings file you downloaded earlier.  Once you have properly selected the settings file it will display next to the upload button.  Click the Upload button.  After a moment, refresh your browser or reenter in the address bar.  If necessary you might just need to quit your browser and start it up again.  If you are not already logged into your iGoogle portal then just reenter your account.  You should now have a nicely formatted iGoogle Portal Page.
Email Security Changes

Currently, downloading executable files from the Internet is blocked and requires that I turn off a filter in order for anyone to download such files.  This has greatly improved overall security of the network since this was implemented last year.  However, executable files or infected image files can be sent via email by someone or received in a spam message packaged as a malware file directly to your mailbox.

I have made the following changes to email security.  Executable files and images are now blocked from going directly to your mailbox. Instead they will go directly to your Postini Message Center Spam folder.  If you are expecting to receive an image from someone or an executable file, you will need to log in to your Postini Message Center to have it delivered to your mailbox.  You just go to and log in with your email address and password.  Look in your spam messages for the one with the file and click the deliver link next to the message.  The email and attachment will then be delivered to your mailbox for downloading.

I have also increased the file size of attachments that you can receive from 25Megs to 75Megs.  This should help when receiving large files such as PowerPoint files or large images.
